Chewelah Center for the Arts
Theater Etiquette

*The golden rule of theater etiquette is to respect the performers, the audience, and the theater space.

Those involved in a production work very hard to give a great performance.  It is the job of the audience to give the performance the respect it deserves.  The audience can do this by practicing the rules of theater etiquette.

  • Entering the theater: Please arrive in time to find your seat before the show begins.
  • Phone etiquette: Turn off all electronic devices before the show begins.
  • Photography and recording: Photography or recording video during the performance is not permitted.
  • Respectful conduct: Talking loudly, making unnecessary noise, or engaging in disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Food and drink: Be mindful of noise from food and drink containers, especially popcorn bags, candy wrappers, and bottles.

If an audience member is unable to adhere to this policy they will be asked to leave the theater at the discretion of the Center Board Members, show director, or masters of ceremonies. Please contact the Center office with any questions or concerns at (509) 936-9333. Voice messages only. No texts.
