Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Auditions be Near!
Hark! Center Stage Productions invites all players bold and fair to audition for William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, directed by Mistress Paula Randall. Auditions shall be held upon the 27th and 29th days of April, and the 1st and 2nd days of May at the Chewelah Center for the Arts, 405 N 3rd Street East. The Mistress Paula shall be casting for three lead males (16-30), three lead females (16-30), 1 male lead (any age) and 1 female lead (any age). Many more on-stage & off-stage positions available for ages 9 - 100.

What Tidings Tell We Now?
When sibling rivalry curdles into danger, young Orlando flees his scheming brother and escapes to the Forest of Arden. Meanwhile, court politics have already toppled one duke in favor of another, and the newly empowered ruler abruptly banishes his niece, Rosalind. Rather than wilt, Rosalind laces up her courage, disguises herself as a young man named Ganymede, and heads into the forest with her devoted cousin Celia and the quick-witted fool, Touchstone.
In Arden, exiles trade silk for sunshine and discover that trees make excellent bulletin boards for love poetry. Orlando, hopelessly smitten with Rosalind, pins verses to branches. Rosalind, still disguised, decides to have a little fun with fate. She offers to “cure” Orlando of his love by having him court her as though she were Rosalind. He agrees, not realizing he is rehearsing romance with the very woman he adores. What follows is a sparkling game of identity, affection, and emotional gymnastics.
Around them, other hearts tumble into chaos. A shepherd pines for a shepherdess who pines for Ganymede. A clown woos a country girl with questionable sophistication. Brothers reconcile. Loyalties soften. Even villains wander off in search of quieter lives.
Part romantic comedy, part pastoral escape, and entirely enchanted, As You Like It reminds us that love is theatrical, identity is flexible, and sometimes the best way to find yourself is to get gloriously lost in the woods. 🌲✨
