Nothing To Lose Productions was founded in early 2018 during a brainstorming session between longtime collaborators Janet McLaughlin and Chris Carpenter, who were seeking creative ways to raise funds for the Chewelah Center for the Arts without the long rehearsal schedules typical of fully staged plays and musicals. Soon joined by Janet’s daughter Jessica Sety and friend Cindy Hogan, the idea quickly took shape—and Nothing To Lose Productions was born.
The vision was simple but inspired: to showcase local talent in productions requiring minimal preparation but offering maximum entertainment. The concept proved to be an immediate success, launching the popular Singer Series concerts and the beloved Alumni “Home for the Holidays” Showcase, both presented in an intimate, cabaret-style setting.
All proceeds from Nothing To Lose Productions events go directly toward supporting the operational costs of the Chewelah Center for the Arts, helping to keep the lights shining and the curtain rising for the entire community.
In addition to concert-style events, Nothing To Lose Productions has presented acclaimed theatrical productions including Beehive: The ’60s Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, The Marvelous Wonderettes, and Winter Wonderettes.
The Chewelah area is rich with generous, talented performers, and Nothing To Lose Productions continues to provide them with both a home and a stage—celebrating the joy of live performance while sustaining the future of the arts in our community.
