What's the Story?
Phina Pipia's solo creation Ha Ha Da Vinci is a whimsical theatrical odyssey that invites audiences into a world where a tuba lights the way, beds make music, paintings come to life, and a mysterious radio broadcasts echoes from the Renaissance. A curious grad student is whisked back in time after discovering that Leonardo da Vinci and his collaborator Luca Pacioli built a time machine, and must unravel clues drawn from their genius to return to the present. This award-winning production combines illusion, music, theater, and storytelling in a singularly playful and thought-provoking experience.
Developed in residence at the Centrum Foundation for the Arts and the Chameleon Theater, Ha Ha Da Vinci has toured across the United States, Canada, and internationally, earning accolades including Best Solo Musical at Orlando Fringe, Best Solo Show at San Diego International Fringe, and top festival picks from PBS and critics nationwide.

Phina Pipia — Artist. Performer. Creator.
Phina Pipia is a genre-defying performer whose work dances along the edges of illusion, music, movement, and theatrical storytelling. Critics have hailed her as “impossible to resist” (Montreal Gazette), “terrific” (The New York Times), “imaginative, intelligent, and strangely mesmerizing” (San Diego Union-Tribune), and “prolific, inventive, and magical” (The Leader) for her uniquely expressive stage presence and inventive creations.
Phina’s career spans a kaleidoscope of performance traditions. She has worked as a professional dancer in New York City, performed as one half of the double sousaphone duo The Pipia Sisters, toured with the mind-reading/magic show The Psychic Dynasty, and played brass and other instruments with touring bands. Her breadth of experience infuses every project with rhythmic energy, wit, and theatrical heart.
